wheelchair funding thru MDA

The MDA provides 2K for leg braces or wheelchairs every 2 or 5 yrs ( I forget

which...). This helps when insurance has gaps or doesn't come through. Contact

your local MDA office for info.

It's every 5 years for new wheelchair, every year can get $ 500 to repair.

Thanks, Chris. I'm already aware of this, because I am registered with MDA, and

go to their clinic in San Francisco for an annual review. In fact they are the

ones who have been urging me to get a wheelchair, saying it would help me, in

spite of my stubborn denial.

They pay 2K every five years. Kaiser, my HMO, requires a 20 percent co-pay, and

I'll find out if my benefit from MDA can go toward the co-pay.

Amazing - when I needed braces my insurance covered all but $350.00 and the MDA

would only kick in $100.00.
