Guest guest
However, I am still having pumping issues. My "power breast" (the one I used to be able to get at least 3-4 ounces out of at a time, will not let the milk out-I feel a let down and everything-I know the breast is full, I have to compress it pretty firmly to release some of the milk, this is starting to bruise me. Do you know what would cause this? Perhaps I have a blocked duct with none of the regular symptoms? This has been going on for about 2 - 3 weeks now and I have tried most of the normal remedies, such as compression, heat pads etc. Maybe I need to see a doctor? Dear Colleagues: Any ideas about this mother? I had suggested using headphones with nice music or soothing voices on a CD to promote flow. Is it possible she has a subclinical abscess? Her breast looked fine at the consult. She came to me for nipple pain; her baby was 2 months old at the time. She had then an oversupply and some positioning problems which seem to have resolved only now she is having this pumping problem. She works full-time and is determined to have her baby exclusively human milk fed. warmly, Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, RLC, CCEcraniosacral therapy practitionerFaculty, Lactation Division Maternal-Infant Program, Union InstituteFilm Reviews Editor, JHLwww.breastfeedingalwaysbest.com
