Day 3 of Valtrex.....strange behaviors

Today is day 3. I am starting slow with 125 mg in the morning & 125

mg in the evening. I really didn't expect to see much of anything

considering it's such a low dose. However, my son has had red

cheeks & this morning his chin was red also. He has done some wierd

hand movements in front of his eyes, which is totally new! It

almost seems as if is eyes are affected somehow. He has been

looking at things & doing wierd things with his eyes. Not

constantly, but sometimes. I saw him spinning around a couple of

times which I have never seen him do! Also, he is definately more

cranky & crying or screaming with anger over little things. Then he

is fine a few minutes later! Anyway, does this sound normal? I'm

kind of nervous about increasing the dose since he is already

obviously reacting to it. When should I increase it? I was

thinking about keeping him at this dose thru the week & then

increasing this weekend.

Also, he goes to school tomorrow. It will be his 1st day back since

starting valtrex. I am not planning on telling his teacher, but

what should I do if they say he has been more spacy, irritable,

etc.? Do I tell them or not? I know they will probably have no

idea what I am talking about. He is the only child in his class

that is on a special diet & doing biomed. Any advice on how to

handle this? If he gets any sort of rash, I know the school nurse

will send him home. Would love to hear any advice on this.

Thank you for all your help & support with this. It's kind of scary

trying something new but is also exciting to think it may help him

tremendously in the long run. I'm just a worrier!
