Guest guest
I know when I got my new placard sometime last year you also now have to carry a copy of some paper to prove you are the rightful owner. I guess the laws regarding use of a placard are starting to catch up with the world. Kerry in Wisconsin
Guest guest
Here in Florida when the handicap tag changed from going on your license plate to the paper hanger you display in your car the persons driver license number is on the placard. You also get a registration card that is kept in the glove box. Years ago I went grocery shopping with my mom. There was a county worker who insisted the tag wasn't mine. I challenged him right there in the parking lot. We went round and round for about 15 minutes too. He could very clearly see my leg braces. Finally in frustration I told him " if it'll make you feel better write me up a ticket " ....fool. Then I just walked away. No ticket either. Guest guest
Kerry, in NC your placard is tagged to your driver's license and registration records, all a LEO has to do is run your tag and he/she/it knows instantly whether or not you're legal. Guest guest
Hi Kerry, I'm also in Wisconsin, and I never heard of that, because my wife and I have 3 cars but only two placards. I got mine 5 years ago.
Guest guest
I've had my card for over 20 years and always have had a paper to prove it was mine to carry with me. I did lose that paper this year but I wasn't worried at all as they do have records of it. Also since I'm in a wheelchair I really was never worried about being asked. Guest guest
Hi , I never had to carry proof that the placard is indeed mine before I received my new one last year. Not sure why they are having us do that now. Must be trying to crackdown on illegal use. (BTW, I will e-mail you offlist tomorrow or Tuesday. I've just been busy.)
