Guest guest
Hi All, I just wanted to share this with you: I went to the emergency room yesterday due to falling and injuring my hand. The knuckles on my left hand have been fused for quite a few years now and it felt like I had broken the joint in my little finger. I had x-rays taken and because they didn't get a good enough picture the first time they had to redo them. The technician had to tape my other fingers back and then to the table, while I held a pen and pushed the little finger out as far as it would go. The doctor then asked me what I had that would cause my muscles to " act the way they do " . This blew my mind! I told her it was CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth). She then asked me to explain it to her! She had not heard of it before. Since my boyfriend thinks he's a doctor when it comes to me (and he has CMT also)I let him explain it in general terms while I was redoing the x-rays. The good news is my finger is only bruised and has a very pretty purple color to it. Isn't it strange that some doctors have absolutely no clue as to what CMT is? Take care all.
