Guest guest
OK folks... so after my last post (Tastor Trip to Dr. Cowden) I do have some questions for those of you who have seen him or used him in the past. Turnaround time on questions: I emailed ( said I could email instead of fax) 10 questions to Dr. Cowden's office based on the instructions he sent me home with. It wasn't until I cross- referenced everything in the peace & quiet of my own home (ha ha - now that's funny) that I realized I had so many questions. Gaps in certain methylation cycle supports in my opinion, or WAY more lipids than before despite Evan's genetics (NOS++), etc. Anyway, I sent it to her last Monday (8/11) and still don't have a response. (I know he's been traveling). Is that typical? I don't think I'm someone who needs tons of hand-holding BUT a lot of these remedies are new to me and I don't have experience with them. If I can't get quick responses from him do I post here? Or where? Protocol: So clearly we're using the NutraMedix products for the Lyme. He wants us on the low sulfate diet for two months (but the boys already test under 200 with the sulfate urine test strips), then we do the anticandida diet for the two months we're working up the Cumanda dose. I asked him if they REALLY would kill off the yeast bewteen the diet and Nutramedix products and he felt like they could/would. Really? I'm a little skeptic on that - my kids are YEAST BEASTS. I have no problem going all out with an anti-yeast diet temporarily but we'd have to increase protein and given their genetics (CBS+++++, SUOX +-, etc.) I'm not sure that's the lesser of two evils. UNLESS we truly COULD kill the yeast. MMS: Anyone know if Dr. Cowden approves of using MMS? My Yasko mom's group is split on this... half of us use it, and half of us don't want to touch the stuff. I've been in the latter group so far. But I read Dr. Klinghart's ppt and saw MMS in there for Lyme patients... kids too? I'm curious to hear from MDs (not just Jim Humble) about the pros & cons of it. My initial fear is that it's a slippery slope that will do a great job killing things off but the day you stop MMS you've opened a pandora's box of super-strength bad guy repopulation. This is all just my random opinion, by the way. Curious if anyone has ever talked to Dr. Cowden about it? Or Dr. Klinghardt in more detail? OSR vs DMSA: Dr. Cowden sent us home with oral DMSA. But it's not on my instruction sheet except during the LED days. We are awaiting the OSR in the mail. Once I have the OSR I'm supposed to give it M-W- F with oral EDTA and Zeolite. I emailed him to clarify if I continue w/ DMSA until the OSR arrives??? Before OSR is that what Dr. Cowden had other folks do? (I'm frustrated that he hasn't answered this particular question and I'm sorry to put it on all of you.) DMSA turns the bottom of my kids' feet yellow. Red blood cell lysis? This quickly? or coincidence? It happened when we stopped DAN 2 years ago too... within a couple months the boys turned yellow for a weekend. This time it started pretty quickly. Homeopathy: Last but not least, he didn't really test our homeopathy supplements. I emailed to confirm does that mean they are OK to continue? I came home to our next shipment from Houston Homeopathy which included two HUGE vaccine clearing packets for my boys this month. I haven't given them yet because I feel like I'm manipulating too many variables at once. I've asked him to comment, but I'm guessing to put that on hold for now? Any thoughts? OK... I think that's my list of questions. Ay-yay-ya. I'm like a fish out of water! And actually, I feel like a woman without a country now. Am I a Yasko-er? Or have I converted into a quasi-DAN mom? Or am I just a homeopathy-minded but somewhat liberal naturopathic lyme-hunting, yeast-killing mama? Thanks everyone, Dawnmarie
