Guest guest
I picked up my new carbon composite AFOs about 10 days ago. Have worn them a total of about 12 hours. I'm pleased to report they are the best yet. About 4 years ago I had a pair of heavy plastic AFOs with ankle hinges. Probably wore them 3 hours total, if that. About 2 years ago, I got another AFO for my right leg, the weakest one. Solid plastic, no hinge. Both times heavy and cumbersome. But not so with new ones. They're light and comfortable. Saturday I wore them about 8 hours...feet did get tired towards the end, but still better than anything previously. They came from Hanger Orthotics. They're not custom molded but they do measure your foot and then they are cut for the length of your feet and fit easily into your shoes (mine are New Balance 844s) It's so much easier to walk and less tiring. I highly recommend them. The name of the AFOs is Allred " Toe Off " . Insurance/Medicare paid 100%. I was advised to try them out driving in the neighborhood before venturing outside the neighborhood. Have not tried that yet. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
