There is a blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I think it was

something like $35 or so, but that was about 7 or 8 years ago when I

had it. Another Internist thought I had RA - he didn't know about CMT,

thought I made it up, until I walked in with all sorts of 'educational

materials' for him.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic

inflammation of the joints.

I tested totally negative for RA (no news there). No joint problems

either. If you have RA, there are some treatments and medications. If you have

CMT and RA, be careful about Gold shots - if I remember, they can make CMT

worse. (I don't know if Gold shots are used as much now with the advent of new

medications for RA)
