Guest guest
ROTFL Liz, with your skydiving and beartrap story you 'wanted' to say. But I am so proud of you for explaining the truth. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
When my daughter was in cast for 4 weeks to stretch her tendons and muscles, you wouldn't believe how many people asked me how she broke her legs.....SHE WAS WALKING AROUND.....to me it was obvious nothing was broken since she was walking. I had some ugly looks too like I was the reason she was in casts. It makes me crazy when people stare and gawk. The only time someone has asked is at a restaurant we were eating and the lady next to us was like that is so cool that she can wear sandals with her braces(I had a fit finding some to fit around them)Her daughter had been in a car wreck and has to wear a brace on one foot and she said that all she can wear is tennis shoes. She never once said " what's wrong " with her. " What's wrong with her " is a phrase that really gets under my skin.
Guest guest
Thanks Gretchen! I do try to pick my moments. I know people that I can be sarcastic too and the ones that I have to be serious about it with. I just feel bad when people look embarassed when I explain what is really happening with my legs. Sometimes I feel like if I'm going to embarass them anyway, I might as well have fun doing it. Maybe I'll use my skydiving story and then say at the end " No, really... it's a disease I was born with... " I do have to recount the following story since I was thinking about it the other day. My friend is very sweet, but not always the brightest. But, she's very fun and bubbly so we get along well. I should also add that she is one of the prettiest girls I've ever met. Anyway, she was complaining one day because she thinks her thighs were fat and she hates them and they are such thunder thighs and so on and so on. I sort of looked at her and jokingly was like " I'll trade ya, . " She doesn't even think about it and just keeps going... " No, Liz, you'd have them for one minute and be like I want my old thighs back. I don't want these huge thighs " and so on and so on and so on. I was a little offended a minute because I was like " wait a minute, how can think her " fat " thighs are worse than my legs? And then I realized, doesn't even think about the fact that I walk funny or that I trip or anything like that. She just sees me for me. I try to find people like that to surround myself with.
