progression & wheelchairs

No, we can't predict the progression of CMT. I've been fairly stable for quite a

while, or at least the changes have been slow enough that I could adapt to them,

but all of a sudden POW! Everything is rapidly getting worse: pain, fatigue,

hands, knees. I finally realize that a wheelchair could make my life easier &

keep me out in the world. Thanks, Geri & Elinor for your responses &

encouragement. My HMO, Kaiser is going to send someone to my home to " evaluate "

my need, & if they approve it, they'll provide a chair & I'll have a twenty

percent co-pay.

I didn't think I'd come to this, but after a suitable period of freaking out

(lol) I see it as The Next Great Adventure (Lordy, I've had plenty of adventures

in my 76 years). I have many fears about learning to use public transportation,

finding the elevators & curb cuts when I need them, not oversteering & crashing

into things, having my battery go dead at a crucial time - I do have a fertile

imagination.

Right now my cat and I are both looking out of the window at a hummingbird at

the feeder, each of us with a different intention. No matter what happens in

this crazy broken world, life is full of blessings.

Carry on, my friends, with hope and courage,

Ruth

Be kind. Everyone you meet is struggling with something.
