Guest guest
Hi all, I wonder if I could get some feedback from our members about their age or their children's age at first walking. I have heard anecdotally that CMT'ers may walk late, and am looking to see if this has been others' experience. My grandmother, mother, myself, and my son have Type 1A. My son is almost 18 months and does not stand or walk independently. He crawled a bit late (10 months), but has been pulling up and cruising on furniture, behind push toys, and with us holding his hands since about 11 or 12 months. He started to show independent standing and taking solo steps at about 16 months, but has since regressed and is showing marked balance/equilibrium problems. No other developmental concerns. We challenge him daily with walking/standing/climbing activities to help build strength and balance, but to no avail. He has been seen by a PT, who was encouraging that he is just a late walker, but this was before the regression. We have an appt with another PT in a couple of weeks and have requested an evaluation by Early On in our school district. Would appreciate hearing about others' experiences in this area. Many thanks,
