Guest guest
Hey, this is a really great idea! Too bad I live in the UK or I'd take the kids. ) Thanks for sharing. Even if we can't go, it's still nice to know that someone has done something so kind for the autistic community! Hugs, Steph AMC teamed with ASA -Sensory Friendly Films! Don't miss the next Sensory Friendly Film! Marley and Me January 3, 2008 10 a.m. local time AMC Entertainment (AMC) and ASA have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the " Sensory Friendly Films " program. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other words, AMC's " Silence is Golden® " policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned. Did you go to one of our previous Sensory Friendly Flims? Tell us what you thought! Tickets are $4-6 depending on location and can be purchased on the day of the event. Guest guest
We went to bolt last month. It was so very awesome! I would say we had about 20 or so families (maybe more). The least stressful movie experience I have had in a while. Maybe I was just sleep deprived (ok, I'm always sleep deprived), but it was one of the few times I felt like a "normal" mom instead of "that" mom.We are going to try to make this one.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "Steph" Date: Sat, 27 Dec 2008 21:01:29 -0000To: <AutismBehaviorProblems >Subject: Re: AMC teamed with ASA -Sensory Friendly Films! Guest guest
So, is this all AMC theaters? How cool because will not sit through a movie. We did take him to his first one when he was 4 and it was a free Spring matineee one, and he was pretty good through most of it with his popcorn and drink, but about halfway through it, he was wanting to run up and down the isles so we had to go. But I was proud of him for doing so well. I relaly want to take him to this, but I hope that our AMC is doing this.
