's World by Wyeth depicts CMT

I have read and reread an article by Dr. (Harvard

and Brighman Women's Hospital) His original article is

titled " 's World: American icon and medical enigma "

The painting is one of the most famous in the US, and is now in the

MOMA in Manhattan.

For years when I lived in Maine and studied Art History, the " story

was that " had polio.

Now, in the 2007 edition of the Pharoh, Dr. presents a more

conclusive medical history and life of , and suggests she

had CMT. Being a former art historian, I am fascinated by this

article.

Since we all can't run over to MOMA to see the painting, I added a

photo in our Photo Files. If copyright allows, I will eventually add

the pdf of the article to our Files.
