......All I could think was OH MY GOD!!! What an awful experience. I

know what it is to worry about fevers but ours have never had them so high.

I sure hope the worst is over. You and your family are in my thoughts and

pray to god that Grace is all right. Belinda (Indiana)

Oh, , you poor thing! Thank goodness Gage was already with your Mom!

You asked about kidney infections...Our now 8 year old had a bout with them

about 18 months ago. UTIs, can be caused by changes in soaps, bubble baths,

detergent, etc. Bubble baths were our culprits. Is she home yet from the

hospital? Good luck, poor baby! Kimry

Well that's about the crapiest Easter I ever heard of.

She's ok now, right??? Did the bunny find her at the hospital?

I'm sure that would cheer her up!

Give her a big hug from us all!!

okay, another thing I wanted to mention about fevers - Motin works awesome

for those high fevers (102+) and also we also discovered suppositories for

fevers, it sounds nasty, but if they are that sick (high fever & can't keep

stuff down), they don't mind the point of entry. They weren't effective for

breaking the fever, but reducing it & bringing on great peace of mind! Kimry

Hi Kimry!

Before all this happened, I didn't realize a kidney infection in a baby was a serious matter. Her cultures will be back tomorrow and then she's going to be set up for an ultrasound and some other kind of test (they inject dye into something(?) and take x-rays while they catheterize her - fun :(

THEN, if those come back unfavorable she has to have some sort of radioactive test (nuclear medicine) to see if her kidneys are damaged.

Gawd, I have NO idea what I'm talking about! I haven't had a chance to look any of this stuff up. Most of the resource material I have is all about bones, heads, brains, stuff like that!

Urology is not my forte :( :(

Though Baby urology is not my forte, either, I will have to say that I had

some bad bouts with bladder infections in my early twenties, and wound up

with one HUMDINGER of a kidney infection.... (they almost put me in the

hospital). After it cleared a bit, they did a cyscoscopy (out-patient)(?!

I've had a couple of different out patient surgeries, but I do think that is

what it was called), injecting die into my urethra, bladder, and kidneys to

see if there was damage (there wasn't), and as they found some

calcifications in my urethra, gently took them out, and my bladder

infections went to NIL....

with all of the antibiotics that Grace has been on in the last few months,

including the inhalers and stuff, secondary infections can happen, and I

think that your theory about her sleeping on her tummy isn't so far off,

considering how much urine these new-fangled diapers hold.....

Make sure the new doctors (if there are new ones) know of all the different

antibiotics and such that she has been on....while I may just be making a

conjecture, it can't hurt to let them know her history.

for myself, antibiotics made my bladder infections worse, or didn't help

them -- but I had wonderful luck with Bactrim (which is sulfur based, I

believe....)

Hang in there, and give Grace a big hug from us...

Ugh, this all sounds sooo painful!

Believe me, I tell every nurse, doctor, physician's assistant and even the housekeeping staff, Grace's history ;) I have even laminated a card for my wallet with information on it, because I can't keep up anymore!

And I keep a separate calendar on the computer with all her meds, doctor apts, sicknesses, etc. on it. So when they ask, "when was the last time she picked her nose" well, I've got it right there!

You asked about kidney infections...Our now 8 year old had a bout

with them

about 18 months ago. UTIs, can be caused by changes in soaps,

bubble baths,

detergent, etc. Bubble baths were our culprits. Is

she home yet from the

hospital? Good luck, poor baby! Kimry
