Guest guest
Hi Sal, Because my son is dealing with not only pathogens but other toxins as well, the following study was impactful to me: ********************************************* http://www.eas.asu.edu/~autism/DANConsensusReport.htm Oral Antibiotics and a Milk Diet: effect on mercury excretion A study of rats found that oral antibiotics and milk both decreased the rate of methyl mercury excretion. Rats typically take 10 days to excrete half the mercury they are exposed to, but in rats on an all- milk diet (relevant to nursing infants) the half-life increased from 10 days to 30 days. In rats on oral antibiotics, the half-life increased from 10 days to over 100 days. In rats on both an all-milk diet and oral antibiotics, the half-life increased to 300 days. Humans excrete mercury more slowly than rats, so the effects would be larger there. ***************************************************** I don't know about raw milk. The study done on the rats was likely done with pasteurized but it didn't specify. Like anything, if it works for you, trust your body's response since we are all so different. But my son has a dairy intolerance so this was just more reason for me to not want to reintroduce dairy should he ever tolerate it again. I have, like you, also heard great things about raw milk and if it were available in my area, I may be curious enough to give it a try because I do believe it's vastly different than pasteurized.
