Hi, Tishanne....me again :) Has your precious child ever participated in a social skills class? I have a friend whose daughter just did this last year, and it has made a world of difference, especially with personal space...as this often time is a spectrum kind of issue...just fyi.

Hi e,yes my son did participate in that class, twice. At group

he also worked on " high fives " and " hand shakes " and giving space. He

usually chooses one person and goes overboard with an

obsessive, relentless approach. He gets very upset if they voice

against his attention. Sometimes he approaches strangers. Its such a

double message because he doesnt like to be approached or crowded.

Its hard for people to gage his intentions. He did this at a pizza

place to a guy having dinner. It was so embarrasing. I have read

about stalking behaviors/autism spectrum,I still wasnt prepared. It

really helps when I instruct the kids and their company and keep the

15min " hello " time and appropriate space plan going. This cant be

done outside of home or in public.

He is stubborn in his behaviors. Patience and more social skills

classes sound like the best idea,

thanks,

Tishanne

What kind of outside help does he get? Does he get any kind of behaviorl therapy other than social skills? Yes I think social skills classes galore will help....I have also heard the stalking thing, but more than likely that is when they have true mental health issues with it. Again it sounds like he needs the skills. Maybe in that social group he will meet a good friend that likes to hang out...who knows. Blessings to you.
