Do you think it's on sale because it only reads analog signals, in

900mhz range? Did all the cell phone providers in the USA switch to

digital earlier this year? I thought I read something about that, but

I was out of the country and wasn't really paying attention at the

time. Could be wrong. I assume the newer multi-use phones with

internet browsers are accessing a digital network. A Verizon TV

commercial sticks in my brain with a comment of " all digital network " .

I really need to find a radio frequency expert to explain it all to

me. My understanding of RF is limited at best and I sent Cross

Currents back to the library a long time ago. I think I need to buy a

copy to have as a reference.

My husband is a licensed short wave operator, but only knows about

those specific frequencies and channels. He has a general idea of how

the cell phone frequencies differ, but not enough to help me figure

out how to detect and block. All I know is cell phones have thousands

more channels available on each network. Who knows what frequencies

are being transmitted from every hill and dale around us.

I think I might take time out from work next week to go hang out at

the Ham Radio Outlet on Lawrence Expressway. Soak up some knowledge

from the guys working there. I don't want to buy something with a

limited range of frequencies.

While I was typing this, I was multi-tasking and searching for

detectors. I found this at " spy gadget solutions " . 50 mhz to 6 ghz.

Anyone tracking my shopping habits would think me a total nut. The EMF

detector is also used in paranormal investigations. One of the guys at

work said it was just like the ones the Ghost Hunters use. Who knew? I

have more concrete things to worry about.

So from ghosts to spy gadgets........ Whatever it takes to protect my son!
