I normally take hydrocodone 15/80 compound that helps a little but I ran out last month and don't really have the money for a prescription without insurance. Do you have a doctor who would write you a prescription for something that is less costly? A doctor who knows what your injury is and the situation is? Sometimes, there are hospitals who do pain trials and give free meds and care to patients who they then study so as to learn how to help them. Check the hospitals in your area. Also chek the large more famous, well known hospitals, especially the specialty ones and medical schools in the area. They may be running trials or know who is. Sometimes, they will even accept you if you are out of town and another qualified doctor can attest to your injury, pain and monitor you while they treat you. Good luck. Also, try to get meds cehaper out of the country. I am sure some people might be offended by that or find it objectionalbe. However, I know what it feels like to be down on your luck, in pain and have NO financial resources to help you. Search the internet as much as possible for best prices and only buy the script meds from a known pharmacy. I am sure some on this group will know of where to look. Hope you get relief ( have you ever used Electrical stimulation/Tens unit. ASk your doctor if you can. Those machines can be bought cheap on ebay etc. Maybe that type of thing can take a bite out of the pain. Debbie
Guest guest
What about a free clinic in your area for indigent people? Is there a county hospital you can go to. When my friend was sick and she was a student, living on her own, paying her own way, the hospital she went toactually had a special fund that would pay for her hospital stay, medication and doctors visits. I am not sure what they called it but I am pretty positive that MOST hospitals have this type of funding. My friend had literally nothing, no money, no way to pay her bills but they were erased. Another option is to call your local clergy, if you are affiliated with a religion. Ask them for help. Rabbi's have a discretionary fund that they can use any way they please. Priests and preachers too have a fund that they can get their hands on. They can also request financial help from the congregation on your behalf. Where there is a will, there is a way. I will keep brainstorming for you. Good luck, feel better Deb In a message dated 7/2/2006 9:48:50 PM Eastern Standard Time, MEENUMOM@... writes: In a message dated 7/2/2006 7:24:23 PM Eastern Standard Time, _roadside_prophet@roadside__ (mailto:roadside_prophet@...) writes: I have recently been laid off from work which has rendered me without insurance. Guest guest
If you got layed off of work you should be eligible for their COBRA insurance. You would have to pay the full premium, but it would be worth it to keep your co-pays. You can do this for 18 months. I do this because I can't afford my meds. Check with your human resource person where you used to work and ask them about it. They should of sent you a letter after you got layed off. You can call Social Services and ask about the state insurance program. Here in Minnesota you have to be without insurance for 4 months before you qualify.
