Guest guest
Hi everyone,my son had a sleep/wake eeg friday and a mri. Now the neuro has ordered more tests. My son will have another mri and a 48hr eeg. The neuro now thinks his regression/brain damage is not from his preemie brain bleed. They are looking for something else or event, cause. Pandas has not been ruled out. A virus or Hep A shot are also being considered as pulling the regressive trigger,so is a brain injury event. His labs were not conclusive and they believe an other mri may give them an appropriate diagnoses or cause for his regression and a better timeline with prognoses. He is doing much better with less aggression, although he cries and tantrums now instead of using words-like a very young child would. I put a old type writer on the counter and have him type me notes or words. Its been a wonderful tool! He is forgetting how to spell but I can still sound out what he types. He was an A student in spelling before his regression. Its kind of strange but he will seem clueless about things, then all of the sudden he will think of something from the past and want it like he just put it down. Even though he has not seen the toy or item in a very long time he will obsess about it and throw a huge fit because he does not have it. He has very random kind of thoughts out of the blue, like a short circuit. None of his random thoughts involve the here and now or the future. He also broke away from his longtime sleep pattern this last couple of weeks. Changing his diet to eliminate corn sweet/by products has really helped stop his aggression. His ocd, binge eating and repetive word use is basically gone too! My older kids are still having a hard time with the locals who have just said " What did your mom do to the kid, that made him get autistic, retarded " . The locals do not understand regression and this has been difficult. Some of my teens peers said " Your mom must be a psycho to make your brother turn out autistic " . A lady we know at the store just asked me about my son. I started to explain regression in autism and she cut me off. People that knew him before have the worst time understanding the changes they notice in him and always bring up parenting. Oh well,I only shop once a week now so I am only upset and dealing with negative comments once a week too! LOL..its so much better then driving with boxing gloves on. Anyones child have a 48hr eeg? I guess for seizure activity it could be a good test. I am tired of tests, questions not providing enough answers. Best wishes, Tishanne
