Guest guest
Hello. I am fairly new here but have been reading all. My son will be 5 in Feb. We have an IEP tomorrow and will be discussing placement for next (school year). Wondering if anyone started their child school and wished they'd waited or waited and wished they'd started or...? My son has autism and cognitive delay (borderline MR to low average intelligence). He is verbal but very language delayed. He is not toilet trained at all. He is interested in other kids, but not *that* interested. I'm sure you all know what I mean. He is in a speech-language preschool and doing well there-however all the other kids are passing him up. There are 2 other kids dxd with autism there one moderate the other high functioning. My son is NOT safe near an open door. The preschool is secure and indoors only. Sorry to ramble. Hope you all will share your opinions. I have been reading all the horror school stories and my heart breaks for you that are struggling. We live in the best school district in our county for special ed so that is good. Thanks Deanna
