Dear Kay:The Medela BabyWeigh scale manual has procedures for checking the calibration, and for re-calibrating, using a specific 10kg (heavy!) weight. Does the Tanita have anything like that?

Tanita is the company that makes all the Medela Baby Weigh scales. Whatever you can do with a Medela BW scale, you can do with a Tanita scale.

This, however, did not sound like a calibration issue.

I rent my scale from a place where I work in-house a day or two a week, and I asked them to get one of the weights (pretty expensive for what it is). So I take my scale in to check it fairly often (and check the one used for the in-house consults at the same time. A home-visit scale leads a rough life, but it seems to stay calibrated pretty well despite the heat/freezing temps of the car, and being lugged around.Margaret Wills

I bought the calibration weight and calilbrate each of my scales once a month for just those reasons, really vigorous treatment of them.

AnnStart the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.
