Guest guest
April, my husband, at 70, is taking much less Sinemet now than when he was diagnosed. I don't know if it is conclusively known that the Sinemet loses its' effectiveness or if the medication becomes toxic to the system after many years. After 15 or more years of being on carbidopa/levodopa he is taking less than half of what he was on. He used to take 2 of the 25/100 every two and a half hours and now it is one tablet every three hours. The dr. wants to wean him off of it completely but he is getting so rigid and has such trouble getting up that I don't think he should be off of it completely. And now about shrimp. If he is anything like me, and I don't have PD or LBD, I could eat shrimp a couple of times a week or more. I love it. And for years every time we went out to eat that's what I ordered. Nowadays shrimp is common place at the super market so I can indulge at home. Oh, and coconut shrimp at Red Lobster - yum. Arlene
Guest guest
Hi April, I have heard that one can build up a tolerance for this drug. Have you thought about visiting the Parkinsons Association website to read about the drugs availabe? I did this for mom and because I am having sometimers I can't remember what drug my mom took but she wasn't on it for very long. Best of luck.
