Guest guest
My son and I are very close to 9-11. We are in Nevada and didn't have family in the buildings, or on the planes or the rubble...but it is still as fresh as that day. We watched live while the buildings fell. I do not wish the feeling we both share to ever deminish in any way. We see everything 9-11 that honors those folks. I keep my commemorative coin of the towers on my 'puter desk. The flag is always in sight since that day. My son (twin to the one at home with me) is one of the 172nd Stryker Brigade that was called to Baghdad when they should have been boarding a plane for home. So that adds to the close up and personal about that day. I wouldn't mind catching Bin Lauden at all...but he'd just be " Trophy catch " more than anything. Someone would be in his place in a heart beat. He is not walking around cities and being adored like he was. He has to be hidden and surrounded by less adoration and more lunatics like him. My son sends me pictures..mostly of kids. At least some of them will see Americans up close and personal and hopefully be able to make up their own minds about us. That next generation will be so important. I have some really pricelss ones. Some of the bad guys are afraid of the Strykers but not the kids...lord they do love to follow the soldiers around and those Strykers! *sigh* I could go on and on...about remembering and noticing some who it doesn't even phase anymore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ****REAL MEN DRIVE STRYKERS**** *¬*.¸¸.·´¨`»*«´¨`·.¸¸.*¬* On the internet, no knows you're a cat. ~StrykerMom~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --- MEENUMOM@... wrote: > I watched the city burn and the planes hit the > towers. Guest guest
It is such an awful event that happened. I live in Ohio and was lucky that my brother survived. He was 1 block from the WTC towers for his job. He left about 15 min. on a plane headed for Ohio before it happened. He was actually in the air with the other planes. I feel very fortunate. I lit a candle and prayed for all the people that didn't make it out and prayed for their families. Hugs, Amy We need to see each other's suffering as our own. Guest guest
I can see your hope. I think there is a great difference between you r parents, trying to show you the racist way and their parents teaching them hatred. I am going to assume some things, and correct me if I am wrong please. Your parents did not say anything about colored people being inferior religiously. I mean that the bible does not say specifically anything about the African American people being lesser than white folks. Also, growing up in the USA, we have all the access to differences, be it contact with other people of other races, religions etc. They don't. They don't have the access to those computers, outside media etc. Only what is fed to them. Most of the insane ones, live at or below the poverty level in their country and can't afford these things, computers etc. If they can, the media there is completely controlled by the extremists so they can see nothing but what the governments want them to see. Also, they parrot out of fear. Fear of god's revenge if they don't follow " their " path of righteousness. Fear of retaliation of the other fundamentalists. They really believe that they will be in heaven with virgins if they martyr themselves and that is a very strong pull for them. They live for the next life and can't wait to get there. Those who are brave enough to run away and speak out are truly a minority. They also live with the fear that their relatives lives are in danger b/c of their abandonment of the extremist viewpoints. They all have a price on their heads. Just like Salomon Rushdie does. I commend them but I also feel very sad for them. I know Iran is a problem. So is Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and many others. They harbor terrorists. I commend you for hoping that someday, we may have peace but I really don't think it will ever happen. Religious beliefs are things people hold steadfast to. So many people have been murdered and killed in the name of Righteousness and God. It is so sad. If everyone would only realize that we can believe differently, respecting each others differences and not infringe upon others rights to practice the way they see fit, it would be nothing short of miraculous. In this issue, I see the glass as half empty and losing water inch by inch, minute by minute. I will always think of your optimism and pray, that more people who are jaded, could think like you do. I always love it when the big ones get caught. Watch out for Iran at this time. They are trying to get cozy with a lot of unsavory folks. Guest guest
No one is used and abused more then God Himself. I sure some don't see it that way...that using God to control and feed their power trips...but it happens and it's strong stuff. It's all about power. Has little to do with God. I always hope for the future...it'll be way beyond my lifetime... I can only do what I can...little as it may be..it's my contribution to whatever is positive. Fear will always hold people back from looking beyond the " teachings " . Too bad. There's a lot out there and as long as there are folks who aren't afraid to look beyond...there's hope. *sigh* My parents honestly believed blacks were an inferior breed all together...like the difference between eagles and black birds...weird..but it was pretty ingrained. I do not think they were in anyway malicious...just brain washed. They started learning from my big variety of friends. Crazy Optitimism but what the heck, huh? I have my mean streak....May all their virgins be big, hairy men! What poetic justice that would be. I'd go nuts without a certain amount of optimism...I do keep up on the happenings...having worked in mental health and addictions...I'm no stranger to a rough side of life....but hope and hard work does wonders for many. When we help folks struggle out of their hell...most come back and help others out and so on. There are evil people who work hard to prevent help from getting to some...but we hammer away anyway. *¬*.¸¸.·´¨`»*«´¨`·.¸¸.*¬* " First, ye rubs somethin' furry t' build up a charge, then ye picks yer target!
