Guest guest
Hello All, I find this a fascinating topic. My personal belief, for what it is worth, is in the 'Cascade Theory'. There is not one single cause for this foul disease. Rather, a series/cascade of events; exposure to toxins?, surgery?, a bump on the head?, a drug reaction? etc.,etc., happen over a person's lifetime that set the stage for the final insult to the body and poof - welcome to Lewyville. I truly believe that the underlying factor is a genetic predisposition to any neurological disease. Had the 'events' happened in a different order or at a different time in their lives our lo's might have escaped unscathed. This theory is not one I invented, but it makes a ton of sense to me. A doctor I consider a real expert explained it. I, too, have a neurological disease and have the MRI to prove it. Lucky for me it is non-degenerative - the damage done won't get worse! A cousin on both sides of my family tree is in the same boat - they each got off lighter than I. [Double dose of a nasty gene?] The only single thing we have in common is a relative. The up-side of this is that I can totally relate to a lot of Mum's difficulties :-) Of course, that only works for her when she remembers! :-) Just my 2 cents worth. Thank you all for being there. You have been so much help. Carpe Diem --------------------------------- Yahoo! Photos Got holiday prints? See all the ways to get quality prints in your hands ASAP.
