Guest guest
Hi All, I have been drinking two liters of water every workday for several months now. I haven't been drinking two liters on weekends. I recently discovered, one Saturday morning, while wolfing down some illegal food, that what I have been thinking was the feeling of hunger was really thirst. All these years I've been confusing the two. I had thought thirst was only the dryness of mouth and throat you experience after strenuous exercise or other effort; but, that's only one aspect. I must have gotten this misinformation as a result of strenuous exercise while a child and drinking water immediately afterwards. I used to go to a residential school for blind children and we all worked out hard during gym class and wrestling practice. Now I have to develop the habit of drinking two liters of water every day, not just workdays. Here's the kicker to this discovery: I'm 60 years old! Imagine, all these years and I didn't know I was thirsty when I thought I was hungry. No wonder I've been taking aboard all these extra calories. Thanks, Walt
Guest guest
Walt, many people mistake hunger for thirst, don't feel badly. When you drink, the stretch receptors in the stomach walls are activated and you can get a very full feeling, if this doe snot stop the hunger pangs, it is real hunger, but as you discovered, very often, it is jjust thirst. Diabetics need those two liters of water every day, it helps keep the blood glucose level down. Dan
