Re: Boworker Stretching

Gentlemen,

I have recently expanded my workout to include an almost "power stretching" with my Boworker (my term for whatever model I am using that day). There is a definite yoga/pilates method to it, but involves the negative resistance (the spring attempting to recoil back to original position). This has provided an extra "lengthening" stretch to my muscles, which in turn has resulted in greater compression for my regular exercises. Some of the stretching is a definite single muscle stretch, while others are a combination of stretching using the Steel-Bow with an Iso-Motion negative emphasis.

If one has never experienced the feeling of this extra-stretching, there is almost a stretching beyond comfort sensation as the muscle is fully extended to its capabilities.

The nice part of using a Boworker, is there is never too much resistance in the stretch, due to the fact the resistance level can be adjusted to ones capabilities, unlike using a fixed weight.

As Olympian Dara has awakened the older crowd to the benefits of "power stretching' (an over simplification), I have been using my Bows for the last 6 months in an evolving Iso-Motion routine that I feel has been very beneficial.

This mostly came about from attempting to develop re-hab exercises with my Bow from breaking my leg last April. I feel I am in better shape physically today then I was last April when I entered the USA Veterans Wrestling Nationals. I will be able to test my theory and training to a greater extent when I wrestle in the World Championships at the end of this month. I say test, because the broken leg healing has prevented me from having actual wrestling time, so taking a cue from the Dara routine, I have placed greater emphasis on stretching, much to the extent it is a workout in itself.

I encourage more people to try this... it is another extremely beneficial way to use your Boworker outside of just Isometrics.
