Guest guest
Roman, Thank you for the questions. I eat raw meat in various ways. Carpaccio is a favorite as is steak tartar. Sometimes I will make a pate which is a blend of fish and beef processed in a food processor until it reaches the desired consistency. I usually mix it with honey and butter. Fermented fish is quite tasty and I make it every chance I get. And yes I do consider fermented fish that has not been heated raw just as I consider unheated fermented milk to be raw. Fermented foods have a long and honorable tradition as healthy food so I wouldn't worry too much about what some " modern " has to say about its toxicity. For me all animal food is fare game. Raw oysters with raw butter and some grated ginger are quite yummy. Tuna Tartar or salmon carpaccio works for me. Ever had lamb kibbeh? Its a treat. I will grate brain, heart, or liver in a vegetable drink making a tasty cocktail. I got that one from Pottenger's Cats. Once I tried brain I decided I could eat anything. Sometimes I will take really thin slices of beef and roll them around some french morbier cheese mixed with garlic. Lovely. Throwing a little caviar on my carpaccio is tasty too. I use lots of raw sauces on ocassion for a change of pace. Raw mayonnaise, garlic butter sauce, even raw tomato pesto works well. And oh for dessert nothing like a raw creme brulee. I got to where I could get it to set no problem even though its not cooked. With a little creativity it is not hard to eat raw meats but it is out of the normal course of things. No I have never done anything to protect me or anyone else from pathogens other than the basic commonsense sort of stuff. A healthy body simply won't tolerate them, and they don't usually stick around unless you have dead matter in your body that needs to be cleaned up. Parasites don't normally show up on their own unless there is an internal environment that encourages their presence. I've seen lots of parasites passed as people changed their diet and got better but I have never treated anyone directly for parasite infestation. When that was a problem I just directed them in the direction of raw foods and cleansing their colon and the problem took care of itself. The only exception I can think of is the several instances of folks who picked up stuff from drinking water in the wild. They didn't care anything about " traditional diets " , so I had them drink raw kefir. Within HOURS all their symptoms were GONE. But these were friends of mine, not patients, and it wasn't until several years later that they were even open to listening about NT ways. Their are many foods when raw that are antiparasitic. Raw milk, fermented milk, garlic, coconut products, even butter. A diet based on raw animal foods is naturally protective. With plenty of these items in the diet it should not be a problem. As medicine is now discovering, some parasites are good for you. The ones that aren't will not stick around once things are cleaned up. You don't want to know the stories of the narly stuff I have seen eliminated by folks. Certainly not for the faint of heart! Sally mentions that the FDA says 14 days of freezing will kill all parasites. I'm not sure I buy what the FDA says. I have been reading a website published by the University of Montana (I think) that disputes the notion. They also take issue with the idea that freezing doesn't negatively affect meat. I would like to see the study the FDA based their decision on. It wouldn't surprise me if it was overly influenced by some special interest trying not to get the American public alarmed over the meat supply in this country. I don't know. I'm just speculating. Just make sure you have a good clean grass fed organic source for your products. Don't freeze your food for maximum benefit. And make sure you keep everything coming and going, constipation can and does lead to serious toxicity in the body and an invitation for parasites to permanently take root. In a nutshell, I believe parasites are friend or foe depending on the quality of your diet. Like vultures on a dead carcass, they show up when there is dead matter and in a very real sense help clean up the mess. In other words in symbiotic mode they can help the body detox waste matter and then will die off. But if you don't support the process with good raw food, you could potentially be in a heap of trouble. just my controversial thoughts... Some say that even fermentation produces toxin, and therefore, meat and fish must be eaten raw, not even fermented. About taste of raw animal food. Fermented salmon is tasty. And so is herring (at least the kind I buy -- it's raw, preserved with salt. Is this OK, by the way?). But what about raw meat? Also, do you do anything to protect yourself against pathogens in the meat?
