Guest guest
Wow, thanks to all of you that have chimed in on this thread. Not only has it been very informative it has also given me a renewed joy at the thought of being a PP IBCLC and practicing in line with my holistic ideals. Jan, thank you for all the metaphors. Your name is also right up there on my list of great lactation mentors that I glean so much wisdom from! I agree that I will develop my own style through time and experience. While studying for the exam I had been feeling very confused about what limitations would be placed on me as a PP IBCLC when responsibly sharing my holistic health knowledge with clients. This thread has helped clear a lot of things up for me and has given me a newfound excitement about the field. , I would love to see you present at conferences. Your wealth of knowledge would also translate into a fascinating online class (I am very from CT sadly). Lastly, if others have more to add to this thread, whatever your take on the topic is, I would love to hear from you too. PS. On a side note, here’s another reason to turn to holistic care first when possible. A friend of mine has a 3 yr old who was just diagnosed with a super-bug, C. Dificil. Of course, it was brought on by a recent round of antibiotics. My friend was willing to try probiotics and I was able to let her know about the Saccharomyces boulardii strain for her son’s condition. I hope he heals up soon! Cole LLLL, WIC PC, 2009 exam hopeful
