Guest guest
I am currently working with a mom who's baby is almost 3 weeks old. Baby's weight is excellent and she has a very good milk supply. She has a history of lupus and is experiencing constant breast and nipple pain. This started since she had severe engorgement on day 4-5. Anything in contact with nipple hurts. When she is not nursing she is in a pain state of 3 and during nursing she says it is about a 7. Her latch looks great, baby is deep and wide, with no compression when baby comes off. She is using a shield because she has flat nipples. She is experiencing vasospasm symptoms as well and using self care with keeping warm, and taking B6. She hasn't started omega 3's or nifedipine. Mom and baby don't have any other thrush symptoms, but do you think it would be a good thought to cover yeast as well? any thoughts or similar experiences are greatly appreciated.
