Guest guest
Dear , I just wanted you to know that my boys are allergic to Ceclor, Cefzil and Lorabid. I am telling you this because I agree with Ursula 150% about the PO Vantin. It is the only PO med that has taken that will clear up an infection for him without piggy backing IV Rocephin or something like that. Don't count out any med until you have a definite reaction. I don't understand it either but it works and no reactions thus far. has had 2 major anaphylactic reactions to IVIG, so those types of reactions are foremost in my mind. Ursula- Do you still have the IVIG sheet I sent to you about the brands and how they are washed and prepared. I thought it might be a good time to post it again. use to have a low IgA count. He had been receiving IVIG for the last 5 years. His IgA count has come up significantly. The only explanation the immuno has for this is that IgA is getting through the filtering process somehow. As a Mom of a pid child who is in a holding pattern after 2 anaphylactic reactions, I am most concerned about the products now. I know we will have to go back on it and that scares me to death. I have watched struggle to breathe and am not in any RUSH to go back there. Anyone (receiving IVIG) dealing with this situation needs to look at the REAL possibility of the danger of the reactions. I don't mean to scare anyone, just raise your awareness a little. I never thought in a million years that after 5 years of being on the IVIG, with no breaks from it that we would be in the situation we are in. I know the Docs know the risks and that is why they are so CAUTIOUS about prescribing it. It is only in the best interest of you children. I know how hard it is to wait, and you wonder what is the big deal. You have a med that will help my child, but I am on the other end of that now. There is nothing else that they can do for us now. We have to sit and wait and see what happens. Please just think about it carefully. I hope I have not offended anyone. I have been in your shoes as well. You just want to make your child better. I hope and pray that it will work for your child. On a lighter note. My kids are doing well right now. I know that it from all the prayers that are being said for the kids. Our whole church is praying for them as well as everyone I can think of. We leave it in God's hands, because that is all we can do. He is taking good care of us right now..... Sue W.
