When I was suggesting that my sister eat salmon roe, I knew she was

in Seattle, where getting such should be no problem. I have been

trying in N. Cal. and I think the best bet around here would be to go

to someplace like Bodega Bay and talk to the fishermen....

Best,

I, uh, probably should've mentioned I'm in NYC. <g>

I'm in SF and I don't know if they'll ship, but I special ordered

whole clumps of fish eggs, salmon roe, fresh, not farmed, from our

local farmers market. It was very fresh, although I had no idea how

to separate the eggs from the slimy, more fish-y smelly part - do you

know? Their fish is the freshest, the greatest - " The Fresh Fish

Company " 415/777-5900.

I found the eggs delicate and delicious, but the slimy mucus part was

not so tasty. If you know how to separate the eggs, I'd like to know,

cause the slimy part kind of ruined it for me. I read on the web to

use some kind of thick netting or wire mesh? Lynne

New York City. I should probably try a lox-and-caviar type of place, but

so far the upscale food markets have all told me their salmon roe is farmed.

What about Barleans? They ship throughout the USA. I have their phone

number here somewhere and when i get back from going out to get

supplies I will dig it up and post it if someone else has not all

ready. They are in Washington State I believe.
