This sounds just like what my 12month old has for the past two weeks. It

was the same kind of symptoms, and he did get a higher fever, about 104.0

but not higher than that. I bathed him in warm water, kept him dressed

lightly. He had a terrible cough too.. but it seems to be a virus. He is

fine now. It took all of two weeks for it to run it's course. You can

make a tea for him with 1/3 coltsfoot, 1/3 licorice, 1/3 marshmallow root.

This helps the cough. 1/3 cup three times a day if you feel he needs

something for the coughing.

Aagh! This is what my daughter has. She has a temp of 103.0, cough,

runny nose, stuffy, throwing up, listless and at one point tonight she

just sorta " checked out " (limp and staring at the wall, wouldn't respond

to anything) then fell asleep. I figured she was just really tired. She

only slept for a few minutes. She really needed some sleep as she

hasn't slept for more than about 4 hrs in the last 24. I broke down and

gave her soe Motrin (my only option right now)She took a nap and is

eating and playing now, but I do so hate giving her drugs. Would any of

the remediesalready listed be ok for a baby (eight months)?any

suggestions would be appreciated.

I encourage everyone to get 2 homeopathy books:

1. Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicine - Cummings and Dana

Ullman

2. The Complete Homeopathy Handbook - Miranda Castro

The first is the easiest to use for a newcomer but not the best way to do

homeopathy - but helpful for a beginner only working with acute things

(things that aren't recurring or longlasting).

The second is really helpful to help you know how to find a remedy in the

classical way - more involved and takes longer but more accurate and more

choices.

Some of what you are all describing sounds like Gelsemium to me - I am

hearing that is what seems to be showing up lately. The listlessness,

runny nose

You may want to try a dose of 6x or 30c that you get in the health food

store. But in a bottle of water and have baby sip from that bottle.

Thanks for the book suggestions Sheri - I've been looking for some good ones.

Also, can you explain what the X, C, and c's mean in the homeopathic dosages?

Thanks.

When I was very young, I was disgracefully intolerant but

when I passed the thirty mark I prided myself on having

learned the beautiful lesson that all things were good,

and equally good. That, however, was really laziness.

Now, thank goodness, I've sorted out what matters and what

doesn't. And I'm beginning to be intolerant again.

Ok, I've been hearing/reading about this so many times now that I have to

ask about the procedure. I've always used pellets,poppy-seed size granules

etc, and I'm not familiar with this method.

Sounds like it would be a way of potentizising the remedy. Would this be a

concern esp. if I'm not sure if I've chosen the right remedy ?(I find it

harder to find the right one with my baby since I'm only going by what I

observe.)

I assume the frequency would be chosen in the same way as with dry remedies.

Should it be distilled water, and if yes, where can I find that. I tried at

a pharmacy once, and they liked at me like I was daft.

And finally, should the mixture be discarded after the illness has run its

course?

I just use filtered water (not to go into that subject again).

I can't give you a thorough explanation for this method other than it is

more effective than dry doses usually. Not necessarily stronger, but more

effective. Maybe Phyllis or Jan can explain.

No, you just use it all day long. When the bottle gets low on water, add

more water and no more pellets.

i will ask for an answer on another list I am on.

Or just use what you are comfortable with if it works.

Most waters (distilled, spring, etc) purchased in the stores are sold in

cheap plastic containers. These plastics leach their chemicals into the

water...

Are you using disposables or cloth diaps? It is hard to tell with

disposables just how much wetness there is. You can put a little washcloth

in there to make it easier to see if it is wet. He should have 6-8 wet or

poopy diaps in 24 hours. You have to keep checking it to see if the little

cloth is wet. :)

A good sign is that his fever is gone. If he was really mucousy

that could make his poop look greenish, and smell foul. Keep offering him

water today, and see if he improves as the day goes. usually they begin to

feel bad around 3 or 4 in the evening, so don't be too surprised if he

starts feeling a little worse late this afternoon. Chances are he will be

better again in the morning. But, if you are worried about him being

dehydrated, and he looks super pale and sallow, if you go to the E.R. they

can give him an IV and rehydrate him.

Are you breastfeeding? If you are, this milk will rehydrate him faster

than any other liquid.. quicker than pedialyte or any other medicine. :)

I don't know. All I know is that the ones sold in the stores are a low grade

plastic that leaches into whatever is put in it. There ARE high grade

plastics that don't leach, but I don't know what kind they are. I'll try to

find out...

  • 1 year later...

I have a friend whose nephew (almost 3 years old) has been sick all

his life. He had lots of ear infections until he got tubes put in

his ears (at 1.5 years), but has always had a runny nose (even after

the tubes). He now has asthma too. He has been given LOTS of

antibiotics, so I am guessing he has killed off his good bacteria and

cannot get well now. I know I've seen articles about this kind of

thing in children, but am having trouble locating them. Does anyone

know where to look for any articles on this?

I have a feeling probriotics would help him tremendously, but his

current doctor probably does not know much about that (in fact, the

doctor just put the child on allergy medicine as well). His parents

are interested in learning about the probiotics so I want to lead

them to the best information.

TIA,

Here's a suggestion -- go to www.rotary.org and look up a list of clubs

that are nearest to your family. You can find out when their meetings

are held and attend. If you ask for one minute to make an announcement

they will most certainly let you speak and will probably buy you lunch

as well :-)

I'm sure you can find some members that would volunteer their time to

drive the baby or arrange an ambulance or other medical transportation

if necessary. I would think that if you need a place to stay in St.

Louis and RMH is unavailable, if you talk to some of the groups in St.

Louis area (there are MANY), that SOMEONE would be willing to put-up the

family for a few days.

Subject: Baby in Need!

One of our members has a baby who is in dire need of medical

attention for complications for toxic mold. The baby is having kidney

problems. I believe she is only 8 months old. She is a beautiful

baby, we have her picture, and we are asking for donations of $5.00

each to National Toxic Mold Foundation, Specify for Beam Baby P.O.

Box 923, Ozark, Mo. 65721, so they can get the baby from rural Kansas

to St. Louis for treatment. I am personally going to another town

that has a Mc House to ask for assistance too, for this

family to make the trip. This baby has fought all her living days to

stay alive against toxic mold.

We must help her.

Jeff that was a great thought, I would also recommend

the children's Hospital I am a Mason and we take care

of children. The Folks there can take care of all the

families needs. If they cant afford the services it

will be taken care of by the Shiners organization. I

wish them all the best.

All Thank you for much for the much needed input. Our 7 month old daughter, Sara ,has had two exposures both resulting in fevers, blisters, rash, vomiting, tremors, seizures, insomnia, corneal abrasion from digging her eyes, it has attacked her CNS, liver, and she has been very close to complete renal failure twice, muted hearing or deafness, congestion, difficulty breathing, lethargy, stiff and painful joints, swelling with extreme pitting edema in the extremeties, and this is just the beginning. With the weather changing and the mold count outside going up these symptoms are returning. We all have been forced to learn that eventually there will be a point of no return. As everyone knows the financial strain that comes with being in a mold related situation. We want to help her. We have given everything we have to protect her - twice. This just doesn't leave anything left for medical care. My question is...is there competent care at the Children's Hospital? So many times we have been told not to worry, that her cells will heal themselves. As we all know, she doesn't stand a chance unless the underlying problem, MOLD, is addressed. Her body will never function properly.

The poem submitted earlier today could not have been more accurate. It takes everything you have....including your family.

Thank you -
