Guest guest
Ann, i totally understand the frustration with the pricing structure of the lact-aid and accessories. Back 'in the day' when i was more full-time with a shop, i had many discussions with Jimmie Lynn about costs of manufacturing, etc. Since it became obvious there could be no change on her end, i just looked at it as a necessary viable option that moms have the right to know about with no real profit (or loss for that matter) to me. I still feel it is the right thing to do to make it available and to really understand its strengths and weaknesses (there are very few). I made profit on other items. Plus any consultation fees. Jaye, I couldn't agree more about having to clean up the train wreck - but i assume we are all faced with that scenario on a regular basis. I've been at this awhile, and recently realized that nothing has changed! But, that should be another thread, LOL. Lately, my biggest frustration has been all the really BAD information and advice given to my new clients that has prevented them from seeking help sooner, when they would have had more time, energy, and money to put into correcting the issue - then, maybe, the lact-aid would be perceived as a more viable option if it was really needed. Perception, it's the first thing to deal with. Oy. These are days when i wish our jobs could be easier. I find the info on the various bottles interesting as well. I am reminded of similar conversations over the years, and again, not much has changed! We are all still looking for that perfect bottle! Isn't that funny? And, i have still yet to hear of one type that ABSOLUTELY suits EVERY baby! (I tend to caution my moms about falling for ABSOLUTE rules!) I don't know about you, but with every new bottle-supplemented baby, I feel like we're conducting a new experiment. Hopefully, we're getting closer to some absolute truths. Sorry for the length of this post - it was a long, hard day with a lot of confused, hurting moms, and they are fighting so hard for their babies - i just love them.
