Guest guest
Does anyone know of any other bacteria that can grow in the throat and cause an infection - besides strep? Macey went to the ped clinic Saturday because she was complaining of a sore throat, had all these bumps at the top of her throat and some of them had white caps to them. The ped on call at the clinic said she had a throat infection but the rapid strep was negative. She said that the Septra she was already on would cover it and to recheck with our ped if symptoms persisted. There has only been one temp which was Saturday night of 100.8 but the throat pain continues. There are more bumps today than ever but the white caps on the first ones are gone and the new ones don't have any. Our ped is off on Tuesday so if she's still fussing Wednesday and the bumps are still there then I'm going to take her back in. Her left ear looks like it's draining also but very slowly and just to the edge of the opening. No news yet on the results but I got her annual medical update forms for the school system back from him today by fax and he still has her primary diagnosis as " Hypogammaglobulinemia " and secondary as " asthma " . which might be good if you consider last year he put the primary as " CVID " . But maybe its all semantics. Autumn - hope all the testing goes well. let us know how things come out. - good to hear Autumn is home safe and sound and in her own bed. I'd wait and see what the ped immunologist says about starting IVIG. since he is the specialist your doctor is sending him to then he'd have the final say. Save your battles. Macey has silent reflux. it shows up on tests but she doesn't have the every day regurgitation that alot of GERD patients have. Hers was found when her asthma hit and then it also contributes with her sinuses. In October we stopped her reflux meds because we thought it was gone. She had been on them since she was a year old. By December she was sooo nasty in her sinuses and had been doing so well with them. This lead her ENT and pediatrician to repeat her testing for reflux. The pH probe was normal but the upper GI showed mild reflux. She was started back on her medicine and didn't have another sinus infection until taken off IVIG. The pH probe can be uncomfortable but the upper GI might be worth looking into. She just drinks some contrast and they watch to see if she takes it up in the wrong kind of way. There are several GERD links on the Gastrointestinal disorder PEDPID page. http://www.pedpid.com/gastrointestinal_disorders.htm - glad to hear Nettie's off to camp. hope she has a great time. Ginger - how's Adam doing? Surely this recent hospitalization would show the insurance company how beneficial IVIG is to Adam. Helen - my dad recently had kidney stones. he was miserable. after 5 days in the hospital they finally moved and then they did some type of procedure and it was over. Now my FIL swears by a 6 pack of beer to clear a stone (and he truly is not a drinking person but his urologist mentioned this to him). Just 1 6 pack he said would clear it out. might only be a male thing though. - proud new mommy - how are things going? how are you feeling? Is recovering well from his surgery? Let us hear from you. On to bed.
