Guest guest
FYI - Got this from another group - for those of you who buy your SRA material from Ebay Forwarded by Steve B The home educators’ community needs to be heard on this. Hi all - I don't know how many of you purchase texts on EBay but they have put a new policy into place stating that they will no longer allow lisitng Teacher Editions because they can not verify that the person buying the Teacher Manual is a Teacher. That is ridiculous. They also sell medical supplies but have no way to verify that the person buying them is a Dr. or a Nurse and that seems far riskier than a Teacher Manual. You can read the new policy here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/teachersedition.html www.pages.ebay.com/help/policies/teachersedition.html I will paste it in below also. However, I am posting this so that hopefully all of us can take a minute and email EBay to let them know that as a home educator that we are unhappy with their decision. What good is a student text to us if we can't get the teacher edition to go along with it if we so choose. Thanks ladies! Blessings, Christi Here is what Ebay has stated: Teacher's Edition Textbooks Teacher's editions of textbooks and solutions manuals that are intended solely for use by teachers are not permitted by eBay. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including: Listing cancellation Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings Limits on account privileges Account suspension Some Examples Hide Items that are prohibited: Solutions manuals for teachers, teacher(s) manuals, instructor manuals are prohibited A hardcopy of a teacher's edition of a math book A PDF, TIF version of a teacher's edition of a textbook An eBook version of a Teacher's manual on a CD-R Items that are allowed: Solutions manuals for students Additional Information Hide Teacher's Edition textbooks are often clearly labeled as such but if you have any doubts, you should avoid selling the item on eBay. Teacher's Edition textbooks often have special answer keys, exams, teaching tips, and guides to be solely utilized by the instructors of those courses. Why does eBay have this policy? Hide Teachers editions are intended for teacher's use and eBay believes in limiting the resale of those items as we are not equipped to verify if the buyer is a teacher or not. Here is the letter that I sent to eBay: Hello! Good day! I am extremely concerned about your new policy of not allowing Teacher's Editions to be sold on Ebay. As a home educator, and in many states home educators are considered Private Schools, then I am a teacher. I have bought textbooks on ebay before, as have tens of thousands of other home educators and public school educators. You sell medical equipment on eBay but have no proof if the people purchasing those items are doctors or nurses. This would seem far riskier to me than a teacher edition of a text book. What about those parents who have public school children but want some extra guidance to help their children at home. If you search your curriculum listings you will find thousands of auctions for teacher editions. Companies such as Abeka, Bob , Sonlight, Christian Liberty Press, Rod & Staff, and a whole host of others ALL provide student textbooks AND teacher edition texts to home educators. I would like to think that this policy was put into place with little thought given to the ramifications this will have to eBay as a company. EBay will be limiting its customers buying power. If EBay chooses to keep this policy in place I will be forced to go elsewhere for my educational shopping needs as I would not give my business to a company who will only allow me to purchase my student texts and not my teacher's manuals to go with them. It is not advantagous to me to purchase sets in two different locations. I sincerely hope that you will reconsider this policy. Have a wonderful day! --------------------------------- New Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big.

Guest guest
Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that on the message board of my website www.abaresources.com , I have added a new page for buying and selling using ABA materials. This should help those who are no longer able to sell teachers' manuals. Please feel free to post any used materials that you are interested in buying or selling. This website does not take any profit from any sales and will not be held responsible for unsuccessful transactions. This website gets over 500 hits/day and may be a good alternative. Take care, Sharon Gabison ABA Educational Resources Ltd. www.abaresources.com
