Guest guest
Amy and group, My district has a week long " autism 101 " course that is offered each summer. SEAs who will be assigned to a team supporting a child on the spectrum may be mandated to take this course. In addition, there may be child specific training which might be done by one of the district's autism specialists or by a teacher who knows the child well. ,Colin P's mom [VerbalBehavior] mandatory training for public school paras? Hello! I'm a consulting behavior analyst in Kansas. One of the families I work with is going through the IEP process for the first time (child is 3). I'm wondering what anyone here knows about the kind of training public school paras are required to have. I've been to the 's Law website but I can't find the info. I've worked with children in many school districts around here but paras never seem to have adequate training... and usually none specific to children with autism, errorless teaching, or even on what the specific IEP goals are for each child. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! Amy E. Amy Sanner, M.A., BCBA enedeliasanner@... http://behavioralconsultant.5u.com --------------------------------- Talk is cheap.
