In life before nourishing traditions,

I saw a real honest to goodness Tibetan physician at the Institute for East

West Medicine in Manhattan for a year or so with the help of a translator. I

met him at the international conference for Tibetan medicine in DC nov 98.

The Dalai Llama spoke the first day and told us how until he was on in years

if he drank anything cold it would upset his digestion.

The Tibetan doc told me based on urine sample and pulses: low digestive fire,

poor circulation, and low body temp. Dead on. Shaking urine in tightly

sealing jar and observing the bubbles will tell you a lot about a person.

Amazing!

I am of the lung constitution (vata in indian, air in english) so nothing

cold for me either. Or hot. just right or I will be sent out of balance.

Knowing this has helped me tremendously. Knowing it before I got out of

balance would have been better. : )

He gave me tibetan meds (similar to ?, but not precious pills) and food

advice (lots of crab and fish).

An American workshop leader at the conference, Sachs, wrote a great

book Health for Life: Secrets of Tibetan Ayurveda. It has not only a

wonderful 4-part questionnaire that helps one determine which type you are,

but an extensive section on if you are this type, the following foods should

be eaten often, occasionally, or never. And there is a lot of good why you do

it which helps. It has lots of " if you have these dominant symptoms, do this

to calm them down " advice. I am not supposed to eat lettuce unless it is

cooked according to the book and I find that I handle it well cooked and now

I can stop punishing myself for not eating raw. I instead eat my meat raw,

but not cold. ; )

It also decribes how to use your urine to decide if certain

foods/supplements/drugs are right for you at the moment. Can only test things

that can be made into a powder (those of you with grain mills should be

excited about that!). I tested and retested about 600 times about 200 things

over a couple of years and got about a 90% agreement with other kinds of

experience. If someone tells me " Oh you should try this med or this

supplement " I say send me a sample. I'll pee test it and get back to you. I

haven't tried it with the 5HTP yet. [you heat the urine to slightly above

body temp, pour in small cups, put some powder on the middle. If it spreads

and stays floating, GOOD for you. If stays in middle and sinks, BAD. And then

the are the combos: spreads and sinks, stays in middle and floats. those

probably have mixed ingredients that one thing is good and one thing is not

for you. You can be on it or not on it at the time of testing as it gives you

information about dosage if on it.]. This book tells you how to read the

urine bubbles too. Small, disappear fast versus large and lingering,...

The nice thing was is it stuff you can do on your own at no charge for office

visits and tests.

now, I combine what I know about NT with Tibetan Ayurveda and 100 other

things including what I am learning in this group.
