Guest guest
Hello! My son is 8 years old and has been spitting since he was 4 years old. My BCBA has completed a functional analysis and it appears to function primarily for attention as well as for sensory. We have tried everything (DRI, DRO, Extinction, replacement skills, punishment) but we cannot seem to get it to go away! Part of the challenge is newer therapists who need extensive training. Can anybody offer any other suggestions on what may be effective based on their experience? This is a really challenging behavior - we cannot go anywhere in public and it is very unsanitary! Thank you for your help!
Guest guest
> My daughter is obsessed with her spit lately. She is spitting on everything. She will play with it and rub it into fabrics. Ugh! For my son, this meant carnitine deficiency. Dana
Guest guest
Yes, my son was just walking around spitting on the floor whenever he felt like it. It was not pleasant. OT worked with him on controlling the urge and going to spit in the bathroom sink, I took Dana's advice and within days of adding L-carnitine he stopped spitting. > > My daughter is obsessed with her spit lately. We switched from Nystatin to Amphotericin abour 4 weeks ago and added Virastop 2 weeks ago and upped her GSE for viral and bacterial issues. She will drink her supplements fine, she doesn't spit them out. > > Has anybody ever had this happen? I am not sure if it is yeast, OCD, sensory??? I would appreciate and thoughts or suggestions. > > Thanks!! > > Amy >
