Guest guest
hi all my 12 son has been having alot of very serious meltdowns lately surrounding the following topic and im at my wits end. we have managed to get him approved for hours of extra help in school and found a great, agreeable teacher, to help him. he actually does fairly well in school, his problem is that he often gets 'stuck'.. either while copying from the board he checks too many times and then doesnt finish, or with a question that he MUST have answered NOW.. and sometimes the teacher just cant answer it now!! so while he can cognitively understand most of whats going on and has rather good grades, sometimes he just looses it all because of his OCD, and cant manage to get himself out of it. hence the extra help. the problem is he keeps refusing to learn with the extra teacher because he insists he doesnt need help. of course, he came home all upset yesterday because he didnt understand something and the classroom teacher DID try to explain it, but ds didnt get it so he came home furious that 'why doesnt the teacher see that its more important to explain it to me than to do something with another student " ..... i feel like its such a waste.. here i have these government appoved and paid for extra teaching hours to hel him.. and he wont take them!!! and not because he doesnt want to learn. thank g-d he is so motivated and wants to do well, he simply wont recognize that the help would make his life easier.... any ideas? thanks judy
