HelloIs anyone out there using shock wave therapy in small animals. Our local equine clinic has offered to let us use their machine.

They report incredible results for relief of pain assoc. with DJD and

other chronic conditions such as tendonitis. Does anyone have

anyexperience with this modality?Thank youAnn-Margret DVM

Hey Dr. Sherman,

The folks at the shock wave therapy company gave me your name to get useful information from… They want to sponsor my rehab lab at AAHA in March, but I have NO experience with SWT. Any ideas, thoughts or opinions?

Any ideas or thoughts on LLL compared to SWT in clinical practice concerning ease of use, expense of equipment, expense to owners?

All thoughts would be appreciated!

Pam Nichols

Pam,

You may want to contact the guys at the University of Wisconsin

College of Veterinary Medicine Rehabilitation Therapy Dept. UW did

most of the original work in SWT in dogs (Muir, Schaefer, et al). I

don't have the contact info for the rehab dept. however

Schaefer [schaefer@...] is an orthopedic surgeon at

UW with a lot of experience in SWT and should be able to help.

Cheers,

Sherman
