Guest guest
Hi , I found something in Portuguese. Maybe it helps... In Portuguese it becomes " escore de propensão " . See here the title of a Ph.D. thesis, which presents this terminology: " Doutorado: Em Desenvolvimento no Programa de Engenharia Biomédica do Instituto Alberto Luiz Coimbra de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa de Engenharia-COPPE/UFRJ. Período: A partir de 1999 Proposta de Tese: O Escore de Propensão como Instrumento de Avaliação de Efeitos Causais de Obras de Saneamento Sobre a Saúde " Have a nice weekend! Guest guest
Hi all, 2nd call for urgent help Isn't there any statistician here ? I'm stuck with the " propensity score " Jo Ann had a very good idea, but I'm afraid that the reader mixes the different meanings of " susceptibilité " in this context. See below the context. Thanks a lot in advance I have a problem with (a very badly written) text about Nosocomial superinfections with Gram- pathogens. This is not the problem. The problem lies in the description of the statistical methods, namely their @ " & *¤ " propensity score " . I hesitate to translate it in " scores de propension " . Here is a bit of context. Thanks a lot : " The propensity score was used to adjust confounding (= variables confondantes) by indication (Please, understand " per indication " :-), and the outcomes were examined using survical analytical (= analysis) methods. " and, further : " A logistical regression model was developped to calculate the *propensity score*, an estimate of the probability of being trated with X based on the pretreatment characteristics and cultures " . I found a lot in English, I know what it means, but nothing in French except in the jail circle where it is " incitation " and " propension " . Thanks for your genial ideas. Guest guest
Many thanks, Lucia ! It means that the poor Portuguese scientists are as stuck as me, and chose to use the same word than me (propension). !! It mainly means that in most of the Latin languages, we don't have good statistics dictionaries/glossaries available, when compared to the Engl. literature, and that any translator wanting to make a lot of money should write a multilingual statistics glossary, success warranted ! :-) Have a nice week-end too ! (for once, no work, as soon as I finish this charming text :-( GUILLIAUMET - France Traductions Médicales - Médecine et Pharmacologie Medical Translations - Medicine and Pharmacology E-mail : cgtradmed@...
