Hi,

I am new to this list, and I thought I'd quickly introduce myself,

before I dive into the questions. I am a mom to a 11 year old son w/

autism. We have had a program in our home for the past 7 years. There

have been brief periods where we stopped having therapists come to the

house. We moved to a much smaller city and I no longer have the support

of a lead therapist/program supervisor. We do have hired staff, but

are sort of at a loss for how to write certain programs. My son is

developmentally delayed quite a few years. He is homeschooled for

several reasons, but one of which is that I wanted to homeschool before

we knew he was autistic. He has a sister who is 18 months younger and

she is also homeschooled. I would like to discuss what others are doing

for older children. Brentton is at about a 2nd grade level in reading,

and math. We are still working on his language as it's still delayed

about 5 years. So this is a major part of his program. He has other

issues that hinder his language, one being auditory processing disorder

and the other is verbal apraxia so at times his speech can be quite

garbled, but he has really made improvements in this area.

If anyone has a child who is a bit older and still doing ABA I'd like to

hear from you. Brentton still needs some DTT for new concepts. He is

very compliant and will work to play games such as Go Fish, Monopoly

Jr., Uno.

Looking forward to hearing from some of you on the list.

Thanks,

Stacie in Minnesota
