Guest guest
Oh Boy, After reading these last few posts I realize my oldest definitely has OCD. My oldest daughter that was just diagnosed with the anxiety has always done this, but neither of my OCDers have. My oldest will ask if her brother and sister and I washed my hands. She will ask her friends when they come over if they washed theirs. She is very concerned about germs. Her friend wanted to sleepover tonight, and my daughter said no, because her friend was getting over a cold and she didn't want to catch it. I don't know too many kids that would turn down a sleepover over this. I suppose this is another red flag. The thing with the back pack that someone mentioned also. If her brother steps on or near her backpack, she will start yelling for him to get away, and she doesn't allow my son or my other daughter in her room. She also doesn't allow my husband or I to sit on her bed. I'm now realizing this must be a mild form of OCD. I still keep thinking it's the perfectionism, because my other two kids have the intrusive thought OCD which seems to be so much worse. My oldest never ever tantrumed or anything in her life, whereas my other two do it constantly. I guess I just assumed that horrible behavior went along with children with OCD. She also takes sooo long to do everything, shower , dress, study, etc, etc.She measures out her food by the portion size, and tried to get my other two kids to do it also. She refuses any help with homework because we can't do it right.she won't accept help with her Karate forms from my husband , who is a higher belt than her, because she can only learn from her instructor. How could I be so dumb? She definitely has OCD, it's just not the intrusive thought type. She's not telling me because she doesn't want to go on meds and gain weight. I wonder what other things are going on in her head. The more I think about it, the more things I now realize she does that are ritualistic.I 've been so caught up with the other two's illness I dismissed hers. ..
