Hi all.  We are toodling right along with OCD here in this house.  Kidlet's

Celexa is being upped this week and tonite we will go up another 5 mg to a total

of 20. Thank you all for your help in that decision. All I had to do was make

the call to the psych and ask if we should and tell her why I thought the

current dose was not working. Simple ;)

Though it is still very hard to get her in the shower, she did manage to get

pissed off at OCD and take a shower by herself this week.  She's learning to

roll with the punches and she hasn't even had much therapy yet.

She's walking around with greasy hair though and that is not healthy for her --

physically or emotionally. I enlisted the help of her best buddy yesterday, and

she is helping me to encourage kidlet to shower every other day at least and to

start making herself feel better about her physical appearance (she's gained 10

lbs on the Celexa..sad).  Tonite the buddy is coming over and showing her how to

do a couple different hair styles.

I love that buddy of hers! She is like a second daughter to me. We were on our

way to the pharmacy last nite and my heart was just filled while listening to

her tell the kidlet about standing in front of the mirror and doing self

affirmations. WOW!

On the weight stuff, she says that she is craving sweets with the Celexa. Did

anyone else have this problem?  I'm buying skinny cow ice cream and lots of

fruit and sugar free puddings and stuff when I shop this week.  We are also

changing the way we eat to more fresh and organic stuff.  I will just have to

live with things not being quick and easy in the kitchen.

The reason for this email is that I am confused over something that we are

doing.  Kidlet has a trip to Yosemite Institute coming up in November. It's a

week long trip with the class.  Tomorrow I am going to start buying the supplies

and it is going to be quite expensive. Thank God for my parents helping me!

I wonder how realistic we are being in thinking she can be gone on a trip in a

new place doing all sorts of new things for 7 days right now?  I am encouraging

her and she wants to do this but has anxiety over it.

I've told her we will prepare and if need be after she gets there I can always

make the drive to go get her.  I'm pretty sure she will be in a cabin with her

favorite teacher and also that teacher has promised to put kidlet's best school

buddy (whom is aware and supportive of the OCD battle) in the cabin with her.

We've arranged for a nightly phone call and also for me to give the teacher some

letters to deliver to kidlet nightly (she says she does this with lots of the

kids).

She's been selling all that school crap for 3 years to prepare for this. It's a

big deal... a right of passage at her school...not to mention a wonderful

learning experience.

What do you guys think? Is this realistic or asking to much of her?  Are there

any other tips you can give on preparing her?  Anything else I can do to help it

be a success?

Courage is being scared to death and doing the right thing anyway.
