Guest guest
laced boots or high top laced sneakers are hardest to remove. Leather shoes are best so feet can " breathe " . One of the reasons my son was taking his shoes off was because his feet became sweaty. There was also the factor of sox being " not right " . Tube sox weren't good. Tight fitting sox on the small size were best because there was no extra material to cause that lumpy feeling. Find the kind your son likes best. You need a reinforcement program with an extremely dense frequency of reinforcement for " good shoes on " . Also, can do cost response--for ex, last year each time he took his shoes off.while in the car, I would pull over, stop the car & even remove him from the car while neutrally saying " need shoes on for car ride " . Have him put his shoes back on, then reinforce (ex: " terrific! Your shoes are on. Now we can go for our car ride " ). Obviously, if car rides aren't extremely reinforcing, this is not effective.
