Guest guest
Hi Holly, i work with a person who does custom orthotics, and i know from experience that a brace for a luxating pattella is very difficult. the way most braces are made they provide stablility cranially, and caudally, but not as much medially and laterally (in terms of the patella). the problem with making a brace (in her words) is that there is now way to prevent the patella from sliding off the trochlear groove.... this is because most braces support above and below the joint to allow movement of the stifle.... and herein is the problem...if you do find something that works, let me know, as i have several dogs taht are non sx candidates... tania > Does anyone have any experience using a stifle brace to help stabilize > a luxating patella? This would be for a 9mos. old MN German > Shepherd. Owners say that surgery is NOT an option. Any info would > be great!!
