Guest guest
Ursula, It's weird that you asked that question today, because both kids had their 6 month dentist appointment this morning. I found out an interesting bit of information from the dentist when I inquired into the anticipated timeline for to loose his teeth. She said that typically if a child gets their first tooth at 5 months, they will begin to loose their teeth at 5 years, 6 months is 6 years and so on. So the early teethers are also the ones to loose their teeth first. I found this kindda neat. had 10 teeth come in at 6 months of age (the month from hell as I remember it :-)). So he will probably start to loose them around the beginning of first grade. Nettie on the other hand, must have gotten her first tooth when she was 3!!! Because she is still hanging on to the dang things at 10 years old. We finally broke down and had 5 teeth pulled last year because she grew 2 rows of teeth! (she's adopted and so I don't know her infant history ie. teeth, smile, rolling over, etc.) But the dentist today said that she should loose 2 or 3 soon because on the x-ray the adult ones are sitting right under the baby ones and ready to break through. She can't wait for the money LOL. In regard to the fever, yeah. I would say that an irritated gum would be a possible source of fever, just as an infant frequently runs a temp when teething. But anything much higher than 100 and I would get to the dentist to be sure all is well down under the gum line. That's my .02. How much does your tooth fairy give per tooth??? Inflation has hit this house hard! It's a buck a tooth now, good thing she doesn't loose many! Take Care and God Bless Mommy to 10 yo Annette (IgG subclass 2 and 4 deficient, HIV+, developmental delay, g-tube, asthma, lipodystrophy, spastic CP) and 4 yo (brain tumor). Click here: CaringBridge - my2angels
