Guest guest
Have any of you utilized music therapy as part of your intervention? If so, will you share any benefits or highlights that may be of interest to others in the treatment of autism? As a speech therapist, I've observed a patient of mine that easily recites the ABC's, counts 1-10, and can partially sing Itsy Bitsy Spider yet cannot verbally imitate. While I know that this can be related to apraxia of speech, in his case I am almost certain it is not. Since he has these skills, I feel that this may be an avenue of learning we have not explored. To avoid a random stab at intervention, I thought others might share some insight. I found this site which touches on the subject: http://wingslearningcenter.org/resources_4/music431.html Thanks for any help!
