Guest guest Posted January 31, 2006 Report Share Posted January 31, 2006 The Shafer Center for Early Intervention Pilot Program – Autistic Classroom ____________________________________________________________________________ The Shafer Center for Early Intervention will open later this year to offer resources and treatment for children ages 1 to 5 who are touched by autistic spectrum disorders. By seamlessly integrating the disciplines of speech language pathology, occupational therapy, verbal behavior, and applied behavioral analysis into a generalized preschool curriculum, The Shafer Center’s classroom program will help to maximize each child’s potential. The Pilot Program The Center’s pilot program includes an autistic classroom with up to five children that will be taught by a mastered special educator and a speech and language pathologist. The program will be directed by a Ph.D. level Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).
