Guest guest
HI, The plot thickens: In May, 2006, the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood filed a lawsuit and a complaint to the FCC against the makers of Baby Einstein and similar series geared toward very young children. They cite false advertising by these companies, due to the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that children under two not watch television and a study showing that only 6% of parents are aware of the recommendation, yet 49 percent of parents think educational videos like these are very important in the intellectual development of children. I went to the site for Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood and they have some studies there that suggest that tv, etc. affects the cognitive growth of children. Worth a look. Guest guest
T.V. is one of those very politically charged issue...Disney makes Baby Einstein... The US govenmnet put out the first drafts of Seseme Street, Mr. , and the Electric Company...People very common culture oreinted tend to like t.v. -Academics (People who listen to NPR) do not....I have seen the tech people conduct alot of research- sort of questionable and have found no real effect for violence on T.V. Bandura's famous Bobo doll study would suggest that some indication that viewing violence causes violence.... __________________________________________________
